Job summary

FHLB Des Moines is seeking an Enterprise Risk Intern to join the Risk Management team. You will participate in the implementation of systems, reporting and data migration analyses, supporting risk identification and monitoring within a collaborative environment.

You will assist with assurance testing, reviewing SOX 404 processes in line with COSO 2013, and take on other duties as assigned while developing strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

As the Enterprise Risk Intern at Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, you will join a collaborative and committed team working together towards our mission of a “disciplined pursuit of long-term business performance” and will demonstrate the Bank’s continued commitment to meeting regulatory expectations. As a member of the Enterprise Risk team, you’ll work directly with the staff in the day-to-day implementation of the Bank’s overall risk management program with primary focus on the Department’s responsibilities related to the maintenance of an effective control environment as well as overall enhancements to the Bank’s internal control environment.

Accountabilities

• Participate in various aspects of the implementation of new systems, enhancements, reporting and data migration analysis.
• Assist in the implementation of strategies for the identification, assessment, measurement, monitoring, and reporting of risk across the Bank as well as evaluating the application of various risk mitigations.
• Assist with assurance testing and control gap identification and remediation.
• Review and continuously enhance the Bank’s SOX 404 processes to ensure the accuracy and quality of the Bank’s financial statements and compliance with COSO 2013 internal control framework.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Working towards a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or Business Management preferred.
• Strong skills in MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills that promote effective working relationships in a team-oriented environment.
• Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.

Compensation

Compensation Range: Hourly: $22.00 - $22.00 This compensation range represents the Bank’s good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of hire. Offer to be determined by selected applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills & abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
