Job description

CCCS is hiring a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Manager. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with strong analytical skills who can solve problems logically. If you’re looking for a role where you can make a tangible difference in the student experience statewide, this position may be for you!

In this role you will serve as the Colorado Community College System’s functional subject matter expert for student fiscal operations, directing systemwide functional work and providing leadership, college-specific training and technical expertise for student accounts receivable, billing, payment processing, rate tables, and related Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) processes across Colorado's 13 community colleges. The position also serves as a critical liaison between Finance, college fiscal operations, Information Technology, and external vendors, translating operational and regulatory requirements into effective system solutions. You will direct the monthly A/R Users Group and monthly (virtual)/annual (in-person) Rate Table Summit to provide cross-collaboration, training and support based on emerging needs. This role provides functional ownership and oversight of annual Form 1098-T reporting and direct cross-functional work, training and decision-making through systemwide initiatives and user groups.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Directs systemwide functional work for student financial processing and billing across all 13 community colleges, establishing standards, ensuring consistency, and providing authoritative guidance on tuition and fee, billing, and payment application practices.
  • Directs functional testing and validation of ERP system changes, enhancements, integrations, and upgrades affecting student receivables and billing, partnering with IT to evaluate technical changes, validate business requirements and underlying assumptions, assess downstream impacts, and authorize or recommend implementation into production.
  • Acts as the primary escalation point for complex student billing and payment application issues, prioritizing issue resolution, performing root-cause analysis, and directing cross-functional resolution efforts with colleges, IT, and vendors to resolve systemic and recurring problems.
  • Provides expert-level query development, data interpretation, and training to college finance and bursar staff, enabling effective analysis of student fiscal data and supporting operational and management decision-making.
  • Serves as the system-level Accounts Receivable Business Area Manager (BAM) for Cognos, coordinating report access and role assignments and supporting consistent access to A/R reporting tools across the System.
  • Provides advanced functional troubleshooting, analysis, and support for complex student fiscal processes, including student accounts, billing, payment application, and fee assessment; performs root-cause analysis, resolves systemic issues, and coordinates with colleges, IT, and vendors as needed.
  • Directs the evaluation, prioritization, and continuous improvement of student fiscal systems and processes through data analysis, functional testing, automation, and standardized reporting; partners with IT and Business Intelligence to develop, validate, and implement system enhancements and reporting solutions while ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  • Directs systemwide functional governance for college Controllers, Assistant Controllers, Bursars and related staff for the Banner Accounts Receivable module, serving as the authoritative resource on configuration, processing, controls, and downstream fiscal impacts.
  • Bachelor’s degree. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute year-for-year for the degree.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience supporting student accounts receivable, billing, or fiscal operations within a higher education or similarly complex, regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, preferably Ellucian Banner, including configuration and functional support of Accounts Receivable and Student modules.

Competencies/KSAs

  • Ability to lead systemwide or multi-unit fiscal initiatives, including development of standards, coordination across multiple stakeholders, and resolution of complex operational issues.
  • Advanced data analysis and query experience, including the ability to develop, interpret, and validate reports and datasets to support billing accuracy, reconciliation, and decision-making.
  • Practiced in student tax reporting (Form 1098-T), including data validation, regulatory compliance, and coordination with third-party tax reporting vendors.
  • Practiced in interpreting and implementing regulatory or legislative requirements affecting student billing, grants, scholarships, or awards, including collaboration with finance, IT, and compliance stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets, identify trends or discrepancies, and develop practical, systemwide solutions.
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority, including finance, student services, registrars, IT, and external vendors.
  • Ability to translate regulatory, policy, and technical requirements into clear, actionable guidance for diverse audiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide authoritative clarification, facilitate working groups, and document standards and procedures.
  • Ability to direct and manage multiple concurrent initiatives, prioritize competing deadlines, and independently drive work to completion in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy, with the ability to balance precision with operational efficiency.
