Job summary

Staples is seeking an Enterprise Tools Engineering Architect to lead the architecture and evolution of observability platforms, focusing on APM, infrastructure monitoring, session replay, and log analytics. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a directly related field of study.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in observability, APM, and infrastructure monitoring, with architecture-level ownership.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team in architecturing, designing, and continuous improvement of enterprise observability platforms focusing on APM, infrastructure monitoring, session replay, and log analytics.
• Define and implement scalable and integrated observability solutions delivering end-to-end visibility across applications, infrastructure, and user experience.
• Establish architecture patterns, governance models, and integration frameworks for telemetry, correlation, and actionable insights across Staples systems.
• Partner with Engineering, SRE, Product, and Infrastructure teams to embed observability best practices into the software development lifecycle, improving MTTD, MTTR, and platform resilience.
• Lead evaluation and adoption of new technologies—OpenTelemetry, AI-driven observability—aligned with enterprise strategy and cost optimization goals.
