KCCI, the CBS affiliate in Des Moines, IA, is seeking a Local News Reporter who can craft story ideas, conduct informed interviews, develop sources, and deliver compelling live reports across broadcast, digital, social, streaming, and mobile platforms. The ideal candidate hits the ground running, works under tight deadlines with integrity, and is willing to go into the field for exclusive content.

This role reports to the News Director and requires in-person attendance and a valid driver's

Qualifications

Professional or college reporting experience required.
Demo reel indicative of everyday work and abilities.
Ability to write clear, compelling copy to support visuals.
Proficiency with mobile transmission devices and current tech.

Responsibilities

Plan, gather and assemble stories for day-of news or special projects.
Collaborate with photographers to gather and edit video and sound.
Develop stories with enterprise angles and exclusive content.
Build a network of sources for tips and early access to information.
Contribute pictures, video and text updates to mobile platforms throughout the day.
Meet deadlines under pressure while maintaining journalistic integrity.
