Job summary

Software People, Inc. is seeking a Network Operations and Infrastructure professional in Columbia, SC, for a 12+ month onsite contract. The role focuses on monitoring, maintaining, and supporting enterprise wired and wireless networks across campus environments.

You will perform field deployments, diagnose incidents, and coordinate repairs to maintain service availability. Strong network security, documentation, and ITIL practices are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 2+ years of experience with enterprise network technologies (switching, routing, wireless, TCP/IP).
• Experience configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, and Fortinet devices.
• 2+ years of experience diagnosing and resolving network connectivity, performance, and security issues.
• 2+ years of experience with firewalls, VPNs, NAC, and security best practices.
• 2+ years of field deployment activities (racking, stacking, cabling, testing).
• 2+ years of maintaining network diagrams and runbooks.
• 2+ years of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), VLANs, STP, high availability.
• Experience in large-scale enterprise or higher education networks.
• Experience with wireless networking in dense user environments.
• Experience with ITIL incident/problem/change management.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, and support enterprise wired and wireless network infrastructure across campus environments.
• Perform field installation and deployment of equipment, including configuring, racking, stacking, cabling, and testing switches.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve network incidents; coordinate repairs for service continuity.
• Maintain accurate documentation, diagrams, and runbooks; collaborate with teams and vendors.
• Support network security technologies, including firewalls and VPNs, and respond to security incidents.
• Participate in on-call support and adhere to incident and change management processes.
