Job summary

Jeffco Public Schools seeks a Network Engineer to design, configure, and maintain the district’s wired and wireless network across 150 schools and two data centers. The role involves hands-on work with routers, switches, VoIP, video surveillance, and security systems.

You will monitor performance, resolve incidents, document configurations, and collaborate with security architects and vendors to ensure a reliable network for teaching and district operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of experience supporting enterprise network environments.
• Bachelor's degree in IT/CS/Networking required.
• ITIL, CCNA, CCNP, CCNA-Junos, CCNP certifications preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/IP, DNS/DHCP, QoS, VPN, and network security principles.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade network systems and components (routers, switches, wireless, CCTV).
• Troubleshoot network hardware, software, and connectivity issues; escalate to senior staff as needed.
• Manage IP addressing, ACLs, routing, and QoS to support reliable operations.
• Monitor performance daily; analyze trends; recommend improvements for reliability and efficiency.
• Serve as primary responder for network incidents; coordinate with vendors/service providers.
• Support WAN/WLAN data connectivity, VoIP deployments, and cloud connectivity initiatives.
• Assist in documentation of configurations, diagrams, and change management processes.
• Travel between district locations as required; maintain vehicle safety and readiness.
