Job summary

Vaco is seeking a Network Engineer for a 6-month contract located in Chesapeake, VA on-site five days a week. The role focuses on supporting and enhancing the enterprise network infrastructure, including Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies, switching, VLANs, trunking, wireless connectivity, and network access services to ensure reliable daily operations.

Qualifications

• Strong enterprise networking experience across campus/branch/data center environments.
• Layer 2 VLAN design, trunking, Spanning Tree, port security, and authentication services.
• Routing fundamentals including static routing, OSPF, inter-VLAN routing.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco Catalyst switching platforms in large enterprises.
• Wireless deployments including WLAN SSIDs, authentication services, and client connectivity troubleshooting.
• Advanced network troubleshooter with structured root cause analysis.
• Experience with NAC technologies and network security fundamentals.
• Ability to monitor and maintain network operations using monitoring tools.
• Change control processes for deployments and hardware refreshes.
• Create and maintain network diagrams, runbooks, and configuration standards.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain enterprise network infrastructure across wired and wireless environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Layer 2/Layer 3 issues and connectivity problems.
• Assist with network implementation, configuration, and change management.
• Collaborate with security and infrastructure teams on integrated solutions.
• Maintain documentation and runbooks for operational standards.
