Every large engineering organization depends on people who understand how the pieces fit together.
We are looking for an Enterprise IT Operations & Asset Management Engineer to provide critical operational support across a large, complex enterprise technology environment. This role sits at the intersection of change management, ServiceNow, configuration management, asset lifecycle management, software and hardware maintenance, licensing, procurement, and vendor coordination.
You will work across numerous engineering disciplines and help ensure that the infrastructure supporting the enterprise is accurately tracked, properly maintained, appropriately licensed, securely changed, and operationally ready.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working across multiple areas of IT rather than being limited to a single technology. You will interact with engineering teams, service owners, security personnel, asset management teams, vendors, procurement organizations, and leadership.
Our program supports 28 different IT engineering disciplines, which means the technology environment is broad, interconnected, and constantly changing.
This position gives you exposure to that entire ecosystem.
You will work with teams responsible for servers, storage, networking, infrastructure, SharePoint, databases, directory services, Linux and Windows environments, Exchange, VDI, security, web services, search, and other enterprise capabilities. The existing role directly supports change activities across a broad collection of these engineering organizations.
Rather than becoming narrowly focused on one technology, you will develop an understanding of how enterprise technology is deployed, changed, tracked, maintained, licensed, and ultimately retired.
That makes this an excellent position for an IT professional who enjoys understanding the operational side of technology and wants to develop into a broader enterprise practitioner.
Enterprise technology does not operate on engineering alone.
A server needs to be properly recorded.
A change needs to be reviewed and approved.
A software license needs to be available.
A maintenance contract needs to be renewed.
A new system needs to be properly acquired and entered into the environment.
A retired system needs to be removed from production and accurately reflected in the asset database.
When those activities are not coordinated, the organization loses visibility, creates unnecessary risk, and makes it harder for engineers to do their jobs.
This role helps make sure those things happen.
You will provide the operational discipline that allows engineering teams to focus on building and operating technology while maintaining accurate enterprise records, supporting compliance, and keeping the lifecycle of technology under control.
