Job summary

The University of Iowa is hiring an Instructional Technology Consultant to support Enterprise Instructional Technologies. The role delivers service management and third-tier support for LMS, lecture capture, student response systems, and other instructional services.

Ideal candidates bring 1–2+ years in IT support, strong communication skills, and a student-centered service mindset. The position offers on-site, hybrid, or remote work within Iowa and requires occasional travel to Iowa City.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline or related experience.
• Experience (typically 1–2 years or more) providing support in an information technology environment.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to explain technology concepts to non-technical staff.
• Experience working on cross-functional/cross-departmental teams.
• Strong troubleshooting experience to resolve customer problems.
• Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service with hands-on experience using ticketing systems.
• Knowledge of one or more instructional technologies used by the university (LMS, lecture capture, student response systems, etc.).
• Desirable: vendor partnerships experience, stakeholder balancing, solution-focused mindset, attention to detail, ability to synthesize complex data.

Responsibilities

• Solve problems for instructors, students, and staff using instructional technology.
• Participate in meetings, develop timelines, prioritize tasks, and communicate service changes to campus partners.
• Explore, test, and implement new features, integrations, and configuration changes to services.
• Meet with software vendors to discuss improvements and resolve support issues.
• Collaborate with campus partners to scale the use of instructional services across the university.
