The Data Governance Architect plays a critical role in ensuring that the organization's data is accurate, consistent, secure, and compliant with relevant regulations. This position involves implementing and maintaining data governance policies, technologies, and support structures; managing data quality; and supporting data stewardship across the organization. The Data Governance Analyst works closely with various business units, IT teams, and data owners to promote best practices in data management and to support the effective use of data for decision-making and reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring data quality, maintaining data catalogs and metadata, and ensuring compliance with data governance policies.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to resolve data-related issues and educating business units on Data Governance.
- Implementing the data governance program using appropriate technologies and promoting adherence to policies.
- Supporting Asset Management and driving decisions for data standards and policies.
- Understanding data storage solutions, including Lakehouse architecture, and working with Data Engineering teams.
- Developing and communicating Data Governance policies and training programs.
- Collaborating with data engineers, scientists, and business units to ensure data quality and consistency.
- Establishing organizational support structures for the Data Governance Program.
- Developing data quality, security, stewardship, and ownership standards across the enterprise.
- Mentoring junior Data Governance Analysts.
- Maintaining business glossaries, data catalogs, data lineage, metadata, and master data management.
- Researching and recommending products, tools, and standards to support enterprise data governance strategy.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Business, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or related field; PhD preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: CDMP or DGSP preferred.
- Minimum 8 years in Data Governance/Management, with at least 5 years in SQL and healthcare domain experience.
- Knowledge of modern data architecture, data modeling, ingestion, and pipelines.
- Experience with Data Governance tools such as Microsoft Purview or Databricks Unity Catalog.
- Strong SQL skills; experience with Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and healthcare data preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with Agile methodologies.
