Job summary

State Street is seeking a Data & AI Governance Leader (MD level) to define and maintain enterprise data and AI policies, standards, and governance operating models. The role partners with executives across lines of business to ensure regulatory alignment and durable remediation.

You will lead governance across data quality, data lineage, and risk management, own regulatory engagement, and drive improvements through robust controls.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, AI Governance, Technology Risk, Operational Risk, Regulatory Affairs, or related disciplines.
• Significant experience operating within highly regulated financial services organizations.
• Demonstrated experience working directly with regulators and supervisory bodies, including FRB, ECB, OCC, PRA, MAS, FCA, or equivalent agencies.
• Deep understanding of Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Risk Management, Data Lineage, Metadata Management, and AI Governance frameworks.
• Experience supporting regulatory examinations, audits, remediation programs, and enterprise risk initiatives.
• Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders across business and technology functions.
• Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Define, maintain, and evolve enterprise-wide policies, standards, and control frameworks for data governance, data management, responsible AI, and AI risk classification.
• Ensure governance applies across the full lifecycle of data and AI assets, from design through retirement.
• Partner with lines of business to define and maintain the target state for Data and AI governance aligned to enterprise standards and regulatory expectations.
• Translate governance principles into domain-specific, actionable models.
• Provide governance leadership into Data & AI roadmaps without owning delivery or architecture decisions.
• Define enterprise standards for data quality measurement, monitoring, and control; own data issue processes; coordinate remediation.
