Overview

GovCIO is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect with deep expertise in cloud engineering to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Technology (OIT). In this role, you will collaborate closely with senior OIT partners, architects, business stakeholders, and functional consultants to develop strategies for optimizing IT investments and solutions, focusing on secure, scalable, and resilient cloud architecture. This position is fully remote, based in the United States.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of VA IT architecture, business operations, and modernization initiatives.
  • Build trusted advisory relationships with Product Line Technical leaders, providing strategic guidance and technical expertise.
  • Design and refine technology roadmaps aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Support the intake process for new initiatives and change requests, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Interpret and analyze directives, policies, and memos from senior leadership, offering actionable recommendations.
  • Communicate technical perspectives clearly and confidently in discussions.
  • Document and report on the value delivered by IT initiatives to demonstrate impact and inform decisions.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • 15+ years in technical management within complex IT organizations.
  • Exceptional communication skills tailored to diverse audiences.
  • 10+ years in technical leadership, systems architecture, and solutions architecture.
  • Strong critical thinking and systems analysis abilities.
  • Experience with DevSecOps methodologies, tools, and culture.
  • Proficiency in Visio, PowerPoint, and visualization tools.
  • Experience in enterprise technology design and future-state architecture development.
  • Ability to conduct research and analysis of current architectures.
  • Proven ability to translate strategic recommendations into actionable plans.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft tools and collaboration platforms like Teams, SharePoint, and Jira.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Experience supporting VA IT initiatives or related agencies.
  • Advanced Jira expertise and remote collaboration tools experience.

Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance.

Compensation

Posted Salary Range: USD $145,000.00 - USD $175,000.00 per year. The actual offer may vary based on factors like experience, skills, and location. The total compensation may include additional elements discussed during hiring.
