The role requires 12+ years IT, 7+ in enterprise/infrastructure architecture, experience with cloud platforms, licensing & cost optimization, and TOGAF preferred. Hybrid work: 4 days onsite, 1 day remote; pay is 70-80/hour.

Qualifications

Job description

Pay: $70 - $80/hour

Location: Houston, TX

Position Type: Long Term Contract

Hybrid, 4 days onsite 1 day remote

Summary

This Enterprise Architect role will focus on the Infrastructure Domain, supporting integrations, expanding existing roadmaps, and optimizing areas such as enterprise software licensing. While high-level roadmaps are already in place, this individual will identify gaps and drive improvements related to infrastructure modernization, cloud adoption, and ERP readiness. A strong background in Enterprise Reference Architecture, particularly Infrastructure and Integration, is essential. Experience within large, complex, or regulated enterprise environments is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess current infrastructure systems and identify opportunities to modernize or expand capabilities in alignment with enterprise strategy.
• Evaluate the enterprise software licensing landscape and recommend opportunities to reduce costs and improve scalability.
• Collaborate with Integration and Data Architects to ensure infrastructure supports secure, scalable, and high-performing system integrations.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert on cloud strategy, architecture, and implementation.
• Identify gaps within existing infrastructure roadmaps and recommend enhancements that improve resiliency, agility, and cost-effectiveness.
• Support ERP implementation readiness by evaluating infrastructure dependencies and integration models.
• Maintain and evolve infrastructure reference architectures and capability maps.
• Participate in architecture review boards and innovation forums to evaluate new technologies and ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
• Promote infrastructure best practices across architecture and engineering teams, driving standardization and reuse of architectural patterns.
• Collaborate with other domain architects to ensure end-to-end alignment across enterprise systems.

Qualifications And Experience

• 12+ years of IT experience, including at least 7 years in enterprise or infrastructure architecture.
• Proven success supporting large-scale infrastructure initiatives across cloud and hybrid environments.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise software ecosystems, licensing models, and cost optimization.
• Familiarity with major cloud platforms and exposure to enterprise ERP architecture.
• Strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns and reference architecture frameworks.
• TOGAF certification preferred.
• Experience supporting large, complex, or regulated enterprise environments is strongly preferred.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and business stakeholders around infrastructure strategy and impact.
