Job summary

Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) is seeking a Director, Domain Architecture- Enterprise Platform to provide strategic architecture leadership across a large, complex technology environment. This role bridges the Enterprise Platform organization and Product Engineering, ensuring shared platforms and services evolve with the teams that rely on them.

Qualifications

• 10-12+ years of architecture experience in complex, distributed enterprise environments.
• Significant experience with enterprise platform architecture, cloud foundations, and shared engineering services.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure and platform patterns, including runtime platforms, observability, identity, security, and DevSecOps.
• Experience working across multiple product domains and a centralized platform organization.
• Proven ability to bridge platform/infrastructure teams and product engineering, building strong relationships and translating between the two.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, resiliency, and large-scale operational environments.
• Experience influencing senior technology and business leaders in a matrixed organization.
• Comfortable operating within a federated architecture/governance model.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the target-state architecture for the Enterprise Platform domain.
• Partner with Platform Engineering and Product Engineering to develop scalable, reusable architecture patterns and standards.
• Serve as the key architectural connection between platform teams and the product domains consuming those services.
• Provide guidance around cloud platforms, runtime environments, integration, developer platforms, observability, identity, security, and shared engineering services.
• Help align platform capabilities with business and engineering needs while advocating for reuse, consistency, security, and speed.
• Influence architecture decisions across multiple domains and teams in a federated architecture environment.
• Guide modernization initiatives, including cloud evolution, platform engineering, developer experience, automation, and architecture guardrails.
• Partner with security, operations, engineering, and architecture leaders to ensure platforms support enterprise requirements for reliability, scalability, security, and compliance.
• Identify technical debt and modernization opportunities and help shape investment priorities.
• Influence senior leaders and stakeholders across the organization without direct management authority.

This role serves as the bridge between the Enterprise Platform organization and Product Engineering, helping ensure shared platforms and services evolve alongside the needs of the teams that rely on them.

What We're Looking For

• Significant experience with enterprise platform architecture, cloud foundations, and shared engineering services.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure and platform patterns, including runtime platforms, observability, identity, security, and DevSecOps.
• Experience working across multiple product domains and a centralized platform organization.

Nice to Have

• Platform engineering or internal developer platform experience
• Experience with large-scale enterprise transformation
• Experience in travel, hospitality, maritime, or other high-availability customer-focused environments
• Policy-as-code, automated architecture guardrails, or architecture conformance experience
• Vendor lifecycle management or major platform migration experience
