Job summary

The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) is seeking an Enterprise Architect to define IT architecture aligned with organizational goals in Arlington, VA. This role partners with stakeholders to design enterprise solutions and drive technology strategy across the organization.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in architecture and at least 5 years architecting Microsoft Azure solutions, with knowledge of Azure governance, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Power Platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field from an accredited college/university; Master’s degree in a relevant discipline preferred.
• Eight+ years hands-on experience in software engineering, systems architecture, and/or designing technology solutions.
• Five+ years architecting Microsoft Azure solutions.
• Experience in plan­ning, analysis, design, development, and testing of software solutions.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders and product owners to design and maintain an enterprise architecture that advances AHRI’s mission.
• Identify and mitigate potential risks within the IT portfolio.
• Develop and maintain a strategic IT roadmap aligned with organizational objectives.
• Establish reference architectures, standards, roadmaps, and development methodologies.
• Enforce IT standards to promote consistent use of technology.
• Create and maintain architectural documentation and artifacts.
• Research, evaluate, and implement relevant new technologies and techniques.
• Mentor development resources on adoption of relevant technology.

Job description

The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) is one of the largest trade associations in the nation, representing more than 300 heating, ventilation, air-conditioning (HVAC), water heating, and commercial refrigeration manufacturers from all parts of the world. Ensuring human comfort, productivity, and safety while practicing environmental stewardship is the mission of AHRI. Through our certification program, standards, advocacy, and other activities, we strive to help save energy, improve productivity, and ensure a better environment.

AHRI has an opening for an Enterprise Architect. The Enterprise Architect is the strategic technical resource responsible for leveraging technology to meet the organization’s goals. This position will be responsible for defining our IT architecture in line with our organizational objectives and has significant exposure to users and all levels of management and external vendors.

Essential duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

• Partner with stakeholders and product owners to design and maintain all aspects of an enterprise architecture that advances AHRI’s mission
• Identify and mitigate potential risks within the IT portfolio
• Develop and maintain a strategic IT roadmap and ensure that roadmap aligns with the organization’s objectives
• Establish reference architectures, architectural standards, product roadmaps, and development methodologies
• Enforce IT standards to promote the consistent use of technology
• Create and maintain a library of architectural documentation and artifacts
• Research, evaluate, and implement relevant new technologies and techniques
• Mentor development resources on the adoption of relevant technology

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field from an accredited college/university. Master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as business information technology or IT management preferred
• Minimum of eight years of hands-on experience in software engineering, systems architecture and/or designing technology solutions
• Minimum of five years architecting Microsoft Azure solutions
• Progressively responsible experience in project planning, systems analysis and design, application development, and software testing techniques

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Minimum five years of hands-on experience designing, governing, and implementing enterprise-scale Microsoft Azure solutions
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Power Platform, and Microsoft's security and data platforms
• Experience establishing Azure governance frameworks, landing zones, identity architecture, cloud security controls, and operational standards in a Microsoft-centric enterprise environment

The salary range for this position is $164,736 - $209,480 based on relevant experience.

The work location for this position is Arlington, VA. Subject to supervisor approval, AHRI employees are eligible for participation in AHRI's alternate workplace program after 90 days of employment and a 90-day appraisal at a level of "meets expectations".
