Job description

Apogee Services Inc.

The Senior Application Administrator is responsible for administering and supporting enterprise SaaS applications, with a primary focus on Microsoft products, particularly SharePoint Online and Azure DevOps. This role serves as a trusted resource for business users and IT teams, independently troubleshooting issues, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring applications have clear ownership, appropriate access, documented support processes, and effective license management. The administrator also helps optimize the enterprise application portfolio by identifying redundant tools, unused licenses, support gaps, and opportunities for automation. This role partners with business owners, Procurement, Security, Infrastructure, and Enterprise Architecture to ensure applications remain efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with enterprise standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Microsoft Application Administration Administer and support Microsoft enterprise applications, primarily SharePoint Online and Azure DevOps. Manage SharePoint sites, permissions, sharing settings, and lifecycle activities. Administer Azure DevOps organizations, projects, access, notifications, and configurations. Coordinate application access through Microsoft Entra ID and enterprise identity processes. Troubleshoot configuration, access, functionality, and integration issues. Evaluate product updates, coordinate implementation, and maintain administrative documentation.

  • SaaS Onboarding and Lifecycle Management Coordinate SaaS application onboarding, including business ownership, licensing, access, configuration, vendor contacts, and support readiness. Establish support processes, escalation paths, and documentation for ongoing application support. Maintain accurate application inventories, including owners, vendors, renewal dates, and support arrangements. Manage application changes, renewals, transitions, and retirement activities, ensuring appropriate access removal and data retention.

  • Application Portfolio and Optimization Maintain and evaluate the enterprise application portfolio, ensuring clear business ownership. Assess application usage, business value, cost, functional overlap, and supportability. Identify opportunities to consolidate applications, eliminate redundancies, and retire unnecessary tools. Partner with stakeholders to improve application efficiency and reduce overall costs.

  • Application Support and Service Delivery Serve as an escalation resource for enterprise application questions and issues. Own support tickets from initial assessment through resolution, coordinating with IT teams and vendors as needed. Communicate effectively with users regarding issue status, next steps, and resolution. Identify recurring issues and implement corrective actions to improve service delivery. Develop knowledge articles and self-service resources to improve support consistency. Participate in established support coverage and escalation processes.

  • Licensing and Vendor Management Manage application licenses and subscriptions in partnership with Procurement and business owners. Monitor license utilization, renewal dates, costs, and anticipated needs. Identify unused licenses and opportunities to optimize subscription costs. Provide usage and support data to inform purchasing decisions and vendor negotiations. Coordinate vendor support cases, escalations, and service commitments.

  • Performance Metrics and Continuous Improvement Develop and maintain application support KPIs aligned with the IT scorecard. Monitor resolution times, response times, service-level performance, ticket backlogs, recurring incidents, and user satisfaction. Track application inventory accuracy, business ownership, license utilization, and optimization efforts. Analyze operational trends and report performance, risks, and improvement opportunities to IT leadership. Use performance data to prioritize initiatives and improve service delivery.

  • Simplification and Automation Identify opportunities to streamline administration, reduce manual work, and improve user experience. Automate routine activities such as onboarding, access requests, reporting, notifications, and license reviews. Leverage Power Automate, PowerShell, APIs, and native application capabilities to implement secure, documented solutions. Evaluate existing enterprise tools before recommending new applications. Share process improvements and best practices across IT teams.

  • Governance and Collaboration Support access reviews, audit requests, and applicable SOX and ITGC requirements. Apply least-privilege access principles in partnership with Security. Build collaborative relationships with business stakeholders, IT teams, Procurement, and vendors. Independently manage priorities, resolve issues, and elevate risks appropriately. Maintain documentation and cross-training to ensure continuity of support.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience administering and supporting enterprise applications, including SaaS platforms.

  • Strong hands-on administration experience with SharePoint Online, Azure DevOps, or both.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, and the broader Microsoft ecosystem.

  • Experience managing application configuration, permissions, licensing, vendor support, and lifecycle activities.

  • Proven troubleshooting skills with the ability to own support issues through resolution.

  • Experience maintaining application inventories and establishing business ownership.

  • Understanding of enterprise incident, problem, change, and access management practices.

  • Experience developing operational reports, support metrics, or dashboards.

  • Ability to implement automation and process improvements.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and independent problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Administration experience with both SharePoint Online and Azure DevOps.

  • Experience with Power Automate, PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, REST APIs, or similar tools.

  • Experience with SaaS onboarding, single sign-on, and automated user provisioning.

  • Knowledge of application rationalization, software asset management, and license optimization.
