Fieldpiece Instruments, Inc. is seeking a Senior AI Solutions Engineer to turn AI potential into practical, production-ready solutions that boost efficiency, speed, and accuracy across the company.

You will be the first dedicated AI engineer, collaborating with Sales, Marketing, Finance, HR, Product Development, and more to identify opportunities and deliver measurable value. The role sits in Orange, CA with a planned move to Tustin, CA in 2028 and a hybrid schedule requiring onsite work three

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in CS, AI, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with production applications.
• 2+ years building AI solutions with large language models.
• Experience translating ambiguous business problems into practical technical solutions.
• Hands-on experience with prompt design, retrieval architectures, AI testing, and evaluating models/systems.
• Experience integrating APIs, cloud services, enterprise apps, and data sources.
• Proficient in Python or another modern AI development language.
• Experience with data engineering, analytics, MLOps/LLMOps, observability, or cloud deployment.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
• Curiosity and a practical mindset to improve business processes with technology.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Fieldpiece teams to map workflows and identify opportunities for AI and automation.
• Translate business requirements into solution designs, implement and support production-ready applications.
• Build AI agents, copilots, workflows, and decision-support tools.
• Develop applications using LLMs, RAG, enterprise knowledge systems, APIs, and agentic workflows.
• Connect AI solutions with ERP, CRM, PLM, analytics, and other enterprise platforms.
• Reengineer processes to improve speed, quality, cost, revenue, and productivity.
• Establish testing/evaluation approaches to ensure accuracy, reliability, security, and scalability.
• Collaborate with IS, leaders, data owners, and security for governance and controls.
• Assist users in adopting new AI tools and iterating solutions based on feedback.
• Evaluate emerging AI tech and provide pragmatic recommendations.
