Job summary

VSP Vision Care seeks a Director, AI Platforms & Engineering to lead the enterprise AI platform strategy, architecture, and engineering capabilities across data, ML, agentic, and AI-enabled BI domains. You will own standards, governance, and scalable solutions that securely deploy AI at enterprise scale.

In this role, you will define multi-year roadmaps, establish on-top architectures, set tooling guidelines, manage budgets and vendors, and drive disciplined software engineering practices

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years of management experience over direct reports.
• Experience across software, data, or machine-learning engineering and cloud platforms.
• Experience deploying ML capabilities at enterprise scale; GenAI architectures, RAG, AI agents, vectors.
• Experience with cloud data/AI platforms and modern tooling (LLM stacks, MLOps, CI/CD, APIs, observability).
• Define enterprise architecture standards and reusable platform services.
• Strong governance, security, and privacy for regulated environments.
• Experience managing platform budgets and vendor commitments.
• Strong executive communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise AI platforms, standards, and governance.
• Define strategy for data, ML, agentic, and AI-enabled BI platforms.
• Establish scalable architecture for generative AI and AI agents across clouds.
• Set platform environment standards, tooling guidelines, and reusable patterns.
• Define build/buy/partner decision frameworks.
• Oversee model access, orchestration, observability, security.
• Drive automated software engineering practices including CI/CD, testing, releases.
• Manage lifecycle of predictive models and autonomous agents.
• Translate governance policies into technical controls.
• Ensure governance, auditable solutions meeting health/PII/IP requirements.
• Forecast platform consumption and vendor commitments.
• Plan annual/quarterly operating plans.
