Job summary

The MIL Corporation is seeking an Associate AI/ML Data Scientist (Systems Architecture, Associate) to lead enterprise-scale data platforms for AI and agentic capabilities in Reston, VA. You will work across data, security, software engineering, and mission stakeholders to deliver scalable AI solutions.

Responsibilities include architecting data ecosystems for vector search and RAG, establishing controls for quality, lineage, and explainability, and mentoring engineers while communicating impact

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, data engineering, distributed systems, cloud architecture, or AI/ML platform development.
• Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale AI/ML or Agentic AI solutions.
• Experience architecting production cloud-native data systems for analytics and AI workloads.
• Experience secure enterprise environments with governance and dependencies.
• Experience designing data pipelines for ML models, vector DBs, and semantic search.
• Proven ability balancing schedule, performance, cost and risk.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain enterprise-scale data platforms for vector databases and LLM apps.
• Define data governance, quality, lineage, and explainability controls.
• Lead architectural decisions for AI data infrastructure with security and reliability in mind.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, cybersecurity, and stakeholders to productionize AI.
• Translate technical AI concepts to senior leadership with clear operational impacts.
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices across the organization.
