Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the ENT team in Shadyside, with responsibilities split between back-office and front-office tasks. The position requires potential float to other ENT offices and a schedule of Monday through Friday daylight hours with no evenings, weekends, or holidays.

Experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred, and applicants will be positioned on the Medical Assistant Career Ladder based on experience and education.

Qualifications

• Experience in performing patient care tasks and front/back-office duties.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy and EKGs per protocol.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient records following HIPAA and regulations.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, scheduling, verify insurance and demographics, manage charts.
• Prepare patient rooms and maintain infection control; restock supplies.
• Assist with patient flow, accompany to exam rooms, assist with walking and transfers.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Document information in the medical record and assist physicians with procedures.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, PA Dept. of Health and UP Health System policies.
• Administer injectable medications and vaccines under supervision.
