Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required.
• Prior medical coding experience with CPT/ICD-10 is preferred.
• Attention to detail and adherence to guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Represent MMC in a courteous and professional manner.
• Code accurately per guidelines and assign ICD-10 and CPT codes from documentation.
• Ensure coded services and charges meet standards and guidelines.
• Work A/R queues to resolve denials or errors promptly.
• Provide feedback and targeted training on coding requirements to clinicians.
• Stay up to date with CMS guidelines and billing changes.
• Research health insurance billing requirements and stay current.
• Meet month-end requirements.
• Collaborate with staff to resolve coding issues and related problems.
• Review reimbursements to ensure proper use of codes.
• Participate in ongoing education and AAPC opportunities.
• Be prepared, stay at workstation on time, and read emails regularly.
