Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Physician Assistant to provide inpatient and ED consults, outpatient visits, and perioperative management with the otolaryngology team. The role includes wound care, education, and procedure support in a hospital setting.

You will collaborate with physicians, residents, and nurses to implement care plans, perform credentialed ENT procedures, and ensure timely patient care from admission through discharge.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and two years of graduate study in an AMA approved Physician Assistant program.
  • Current registration as Physician Assistant in the State of Rhode Island.
  • An extremely high level of analytical ability to apply post-surgical training to patient care.
  • Good interpersonal skills to interact with patients, physicians, and nursing staff.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains and records detailed medical histories.
  • Performs and records complete physical examinations and updates progress notes.
  • Assists in discharge summaries and initiates life saving measures in emergencies.
  • Initiates patient orders for admission as directed by physicians.
  • Collaborates with nurses, physicians, residents, and interdisciplinary team on care plans.
  • Coordinates with otolaryngology residents to manage daily patient needs.
  • Performs credentialed procedures including laryngoscopy, I&D, cerumen removal, epistaxis control, tracheostomy care, and FNAs.
  • Evaluates ER presentations with ENT problems and provides wound care and dressing changes.
  • Enter orders into EMR and educate nursing staff.
