Job summary

Rhode Island Hospital is seeking a Physician Assistant to provide inpatient and ED consults, outpatient clinic visits, pre/post-operative management, and procedural assistance as part of the otolaryngology team. You will work under a supervising physician in a collaborative academic environment supporting resident training.

Responsibilities include history taking, exams, discharge planning, and procedures such as laryngoscopy and I&Ds.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and two years of graduate study in an AMA approved Physician Assistant program.
• Current registration as Physician Assistant in the State of Rhode Island.
• High level of analytical ability to apply post-surgical training to patient care.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills for working with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and record detailed medical histories.
• Perform and document physical examinations and update medical records.
• Assist in discharge planning and initiate life-saving measures in emergencies.
• Enter orders for admissions as directed by physicians.
• Collaborate with nurses and physicians to develop care plans.
• Coordinate day-to-day care with otolaryngology residents.
• Execute credentialed procedures (e.g., laryngoscopy, I&Ds, cerumen removal, epistaxis control).
• Provide ER assessment for ENT patients and wound care.
• Enter orders in EMR and educate nursing staff and patients.
