Job summary

North Branford Public Schools is seeking a PART TIME TEACHER ASSISTANT for the Before/After School Care Enrichment Program. This 10-month position runs during the school year with hours at two sites, Jerome Harrison School and TVES School, before and after the regular day.

As a member of the Family Resource Center team, you will support planning activities, supervise children, ensure safety, and collaborate with fellow staff to deliver a quality program aligned with district and state

Qualifications

• Hold an Associate Degree in Early Childhood, or a certificate in early childhood, or a closely related field.
• Have one year of college level work, and, for either, have one year of working with school-age children in a similar setting.
• Have a high school diploma with two years experience working with school-age children in a similar setting.
• Be CPR, First Aid, Epi-Pen and PMT certified or obtain certification after hire.
• Complete a tuberculosis test and physical and provide physician documentation.

Responsibilities

• Plan group activities to stimulate growth in language, social and emotional skills.
• Adhere to positive guidance policies and support co-teachers.
• Maintain weekly lesson plans with experiences that build self-esteem and cooperation.
• Provide day-to-day support to co-teachers by sharing daily program plans.
• Participate with and actively supervise children at all times.
• Ensure safety and well-being of each child and respond to their needs.
• Attend monthly staff meetings and after-hours events as required.
• Maintain professional growth through required trainings.
• Help maintain a healthy and safe facility by following daily cleaning protocols.
• Establish positive relationships with children and model appropriate behavior.
• Maintain and enforce all program documentation for injuries, incidents, or behavior.

Education

Associate Degree in Early Childhood

Early childhood certificate

One year college-level work

Two years experience with school-age children
