JOB DESCRIPTION

ENL Instructional Assistant

QUALIFICATIONS:

Teaching License Preferred

Federal legislation known as “No Child Left Behind” wassigned into law by President Bush in January 2002. It requiresthat beginning January 8, 2002, paraprofessionals be required tohave one of the following:

• An associate of arts degree
• Two years of college(48 credit hours)
• PasstheParaProexam (state assessment test for knowledge of an ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing and math)

REPORTS TO:

Principal and ENL Coach and Coordinator

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to proficiently aid teacher.
• Ability to work well with staff and students.
• Be prepared for the workday.
• Instruct students under the supervision of the ENL Coach, ENL Collaborative Teacher and Classroom Teacher.
• Communicate instructional needs to appropriate classroom teacher(s).
• Work with groups of students within the classroom.
• Understand Wida Can Do Standards.
• Follow service schedule for the year, being flexible with changes as necessary.
• Any other related duties as may be assigned by the building principal or ENL Collaborative Teacher.
