Job summary

Planted Earth is hiring for an entry-level landscaping assistant to help install and maintain premier landscapes across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Join a team that values craftsmanship, safety, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll assist with installations, learn from top experts, and contribute to projects that showcase high-quality plant material and attentive client service. A valid driver's license and physical stamina are required.

Qualifications

• Entry-level candidates welcome; landscaping/gardening experience is a plus, but not required.
• Experience planting trees, shrubs, and other landscape materials preferred but not required.
• Basic understanding of landscape installation techniques and equipment is a plus.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with landscape enhancements and improvements at residential properties.
• Prepare planting beds and lawns, including soil preparation, digging properly sized planting holes, mulching, edging, and installing sod or seed.
• Assist with landscape renovations, plant replacements, and other enhancement projects as directed by the Crew Leader.
• Follow proper planting and horticultural practices to support plant health and long-term landscape performance.
• Safely operate and maintain hand tools, power equipment, and other landscaping equipment.
• Ensure equipment and tools are properly maintained, fueled, and ready for daily use.
• Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites, vehicles, and equipment.
• Participate in company training and follow established safety procedures.
• Work collaboratively with the Crew Leader and team members to complete projects efficiently and to Planted Earth's quality standards.

• Basic understanding of landscape installation techniques and equipment is a plus.
• Ability to operate basic landscaping equipment safely and efficiently.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for gardening.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions, including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
