Job summary

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required; doctorate in the subject area preferred.
  • Enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching and active-learning pedagogy.

  • Dedication to supporting a diverse student body, including underserved and first-generation students.
  • Student-centered philosophy aligned with UMSV’s mission.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive and creative problem-solving approach.
  • Experience teaching HEOP students is highly encouraged.
  • Prior teaching in English courses such as English 110 and English 120 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 24 credits per 12-month period in English, using engaging practices for first-generation students.
  • Foster an inclusive, high-standard learning environment.
  • Participate in a professional learning community with ongoing pedagogical development.
  • Maintain regular on-campus availability to support students during operational hours.
  • Provide academic advising to Seton College students.
  • Serve on faculty committees and contribute to institutional initiatives.
  • Attend faculty meetings and engage in department activities.
  • Be available for occasional evening and weekend commitments as required.
