Job summary

University of Mount Saint Vincent invites applications for an Assistant Professor of English at Seton College. This full-time, non-tenure-track appointment begins January 16, 2027, with renewal possible.

Teaching will emphasize first-generation students and active-learning pedagogy on the Riverdale Campus, with on-campus availability and service on committees. Applicants should hold a Master’s degree (Doctorate preferred) and demonstrate commitment to inclusive education, a student-centered

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in English or related field required.
• Doctorate in the subject area preferred.
• Experience teaching undergraduates and using active-learning pedagogy.
• Commitment to diverse student body and first-generation students.
• Ability to teach English courses such as English 110 and 120.
• Willingness for occasional evening/weekend commitments.
• Strong interpersonal, writing, and presentation skills.
• Experience teaching HEOP students encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Teach 24 credits per 12-month period in English.
• Foster an engaging, inclusive learning environment.
• Participate in a professional learning community and pedagogical development.
• Maintain on-campus availability to support students.
• Provide academic advising to Seton College students.
• Serve on faculty committees and engage in institutional initiatives.
• Attend faculty meetings and department activities.
• Participate in occasional evening/weekend commitments as required.
