Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs is seeking an English Teacher for a 200-day contract to begin for the remainder of the 2026-2027 school year. The role reports to the Building Principal and Assistant Principal and requires active licensure in English/Language Arts per WV standards.

The ideal candidate will maintain licensure, uphold professional responsibilities, and deliver engaging instruction using current educational technologies.

Qualifications

• Hold valid West Virginia Teacher Certification/Licensure in English, Language Arts or English Language Arts.
• Meet minimum standards for licensure as set by WVDE—Minimum Standards for Licensure of WV School Personnel.
• Satisfactory evaluations and/or recommendations from professional associates, employers or supervisors.
• Exhibits knowledge of duties and responsibilities as demonstrated in the interview.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, school personnel and parents.
• Educational philosophy aligned with Doddridge County Board of Education beliefs.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.

ENGLISH TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• Hold Valid West Virginia Teacher Certification/Licensure in English, Language Arts or English Language Arts.
• Meet minimum standards for certification as set forth by the West Virginia Department of Education in Minimum Standards for Licensure of West Virginia School Personnel.
• Satisfactory evaluations and/or recommendations from professional associates, employers and/or supervisors.
• Exhibits knowledge of the duties and responsibilities as demonstrated in the personal interview.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, school personnel and parents.
• Educational philosophy comparable with the Doddridge County Board of Education philosophy, mission statement and core beliefs.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to motivate students and get them excited about learning.
• Exhibits knowledge of current instructional technologies.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal, Assistant Principal

RESPONSIBILITIES: All professional educators must: maintain valid educator licensure at all times, renew educator licenses as set forth by WVDE, maintain positive work habits, perform duties as assigned and directed, maintain and upgrade professional skills, communicate effectively and exhibit professional teaching knowledge and strategies.
