Job summary

Ohio County Board of Education is seeking a Middle School Social Studies teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The role requires WV Certification for Social Studies (5-12), a Master’s in Social Studies or 18 graduate hours, and the ability to teach World Cultures and European History with technology integration.

Qualified applicants will participate in interviews and a writing process; instructional goals will guide planning, assessment and student outcomes within the district salary schedule.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate, Comprehensive Social Studies 5-12.
• Master's Degree in Social Studies or 18 graduate hours in Social Studies preferred.
• Additional secondary endorsement preferred.
• Knowledge of current methods in teaching Social Studies including the use of technology.
• Strong academic background and teaching experience in World Cultures and European History at various levels.
• Understanding of learning outcomes and their impact upon student learning.
• Successful completion of the interview and writing process.
• Any combination of training and experience which would lead to successful employment as a Social Studies Teacher.
