Job description

Position: English Skills Academy Instructor – 20 Hours per week

The English Skills Academy Instructor will join a team of experienced and innovative instructors who plan, prepare, and implement lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments for outcomes-based curricula. This person will serve as an instructor of English to diverse students who are advancing their language skills. The instructor must have credentialed and documented experience in the content being taught and demonstrate enthusiasm and skill in communicating that content to students and other participants. They should be able to create an environment conducive to learning. This is a part-time role with no supervisory requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serve as an instructor of English for diverse students advancing for personal, business, or academic reasons.
• Master the subject matter of the English program, primarily critical reading and argumentative essay writing.
• Design strategies to improve student retention and understanding of the curriculum.
• Prepare detailed lesson plans, develop comprehensive assessments, and provide feedback on assessments.
• Engage with students professionally and enthusiastically.
• Plan and prepare outcomes-based lessons according to the assigned curriculum.
• Submit administrative updates and documents by deadlines, including student attendance, assessments, grading, and final grades.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in TEFL/TESOL or CELTA certification.
• At least 3 years of ESL teaching experience at the college or university level.

Experience:

Experience working with multilingual and diverse populations. Strong communication and editing skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback.

Starting Salary:

$50.00 - $55.00 per hour
