Job description

Position: English Skills Academy Instructor – 20 Hours per week

The English Skills Academy Instructor will join a team of experienced and innovative instructors who plan, prepare, and implement lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments for outcomes-based curricula. This person will serve as an instructor of English to diverse students who are advancing their language skills. They must have credentialed and documented experience in the content being taught and demonstrate enthusiasm and skill in communicating that content to students and other participants. The instructor should be able to create an environment conducive to learning. This role is part-time, with no supervisory requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Serve as an Instructor of English with diverse students aiming for personal, business, or academic advancement.
  2. Master the subject matter of the English program, primarily critical reading and argumentative essay writing.
  3. Design strategies to improve student retention and create pathways to understanding the curriculum.
  4. Prepare detailed lesson plans, develop comprehensive assessments, and provide feedback.
  5. Interact with students in an enthusiastic, professional manner.
  6. Plan and prepare outcomes-based lessons according to the assigned curriculum.
  7. Submit administrative updates and documents by deadlines, including student attendance, course syllabus, assessments, and final grades.
  8. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  1. Master's Degree in TEFL/TESOL or CELTA certificate.
  2. At least 3 years of ESL teaching experience at the college or university level.
Experience:

Experience working with multilingual and diverse populations. Strong communication and editing skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback.

Starting Salary:

$50.00 - $55.00 per hour
