Job description

Position: English Skills Academy Instructor – 20 Hours per week

The English Skills Academy Instructor will join a team of experienced and innovative instructors who plan, prepare, and implement lessons and other activities, assignments and assessments for outcomes-based curricula. This person will serve as an instructor of English to diverse students who are advancing the language skill. They must have credentialed and documented experience in the content being taught and demonstrate enthusiasm and skill at communicating that content to students and other participants. The instructor should be able to create an environment that is conducive to learning. This role is part-time, and there are no supervisory requirements for this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as an Instructor of English with diverse students who are advancing themselves for Personal, business or academic reasons
  • Mast the subject matter of the English program-primarily critical reading and argumentative essay writing
  • Designs strategies for strengthening student retention to create pathways to an understanding of the curriculum
  • Prepare thorough lesson plans; develop comprehensive, rigorous assessments; and provide detailed feedback to all assessments.
  • Interact with students in an enthusiastic, uplifting. Professional manner
  • Plan and prepare to engage outcomes-based lessons on the given curriculum for the course of program assigned
  • Submit required administrative updates and documents by given deadlines, including but not limited to student academic and attendance concerns, course syllabus and schedule, complete assessments and grading documentation assessment tools and examples, and final grades to the institution
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned


Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in TEFL/TESOL or CELTA certificate. At a minimum 3 years teaching experience in ESL at the College or University level.


Experience:

Experience working with multi-lingual and diverse populations. Must have strong communication and editing skills and can empower and provide constructive feedback

Starting Salary: Starting Salary: $50.00 - $55.00 an hour

Employment at the College may be subject to the favorable result of a background investigation. Official transcripts will be required upon employment. Foreign transcripts which are not accompanied by an evaluation from an approved agency may not be reviewed.
