Job summary

LeTourneau University invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of English in the Department of Humanities & Social Sciences. The tenure-track role involves teaching a full load of composition and writing courses and contributing to the department’s growth in the Great Books tradition.

The candidate should hold a Ph.D. in English or a closely related field (Master’s with significant teaching experience considered) and demonstrate strong teaching, research, and leadership

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in English, Rhetoric & Composition from an accredited university; or Master's with significant teaching experience.
• Commitment to the Great Books Tradition; Latin knowledge preferred.
• Demonstrated teaching competency.
• Interpersonal skills to interact with students, colleagues, and administrators in a university learning community.
• Ability to infuse humanities within the 'Christian Polytechnic University' mission and contribute to STEM-related programs.

Responsibilities

• Teach a full-time load (12 credit hours per term) of English composition and writing, including lower and upper division courses.
• Contribute to development of writing courses in the classical rhetorical tradition.
• Participate in university committees and service assignments.
• Advise students and contribute to student success and retention programs.
• Maintain active scholarship or professional engagement within the discipline.
