Job summary

The Instructional Support Specialist (ISS) at Augusta Technical College provides tutoring and academic support to students in the Success Center, employing strategic learning methods and differentiated instruction.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) and have experience with tutoring, diverse student populations, and higher education programs aimed at improving retention and graduation rates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• Master’s degree in the subject area (preferred).
• Familiarity with tutoring and/or supplemental instruction.
• Experience with diverse populations and higher education programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic support to students using strategic learning methods.
• Address students’ immediate educational concerns.
• Understand adult learners, varied learning styles, and differentiated instruction.
• Prepare teaching materials aligned to students’ goals and interests.
• Maintain a positive attitude that encourages learning.
• Monitor and document progress; provide progress reports.
• Use center software to track utilization of services.
• Complete annual professional development activities.
• Perform administrative duties to support Success Center operations.
