Job summary

The International Council for Refugees and Immigrants, Inc. seeks an ELL Instructor to plan and deliver high-quality workplace English for adult learners.

This role emphasizes learner-centered teaching, flexibility, and cultural awareness to support real-world communication in workplace settings. You will collaborate with program staff, employers, and learners to tailor curricula, assess progress, and ensure a positive, respectful classroom experience.

Job description

The ELL Instructor will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality contextualized English language instruction tailored to the needs of adult learners in the workplace. This role requires flexibility, cultural awareness, and a commitment to learner-centered teaching. Instructors collaborate with program staff, employers, and learners to ensure a quality curriculum plan and a positive classroom experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing a curriculum specifically tailored to individual employer partners and specific programs to serve English learners at various English levels.
  • Assess learners’ skills and progress using program tools and provides feedback to both learners and program coordinators.
  • Integrate workplace-specific vocabulary and scenarios to strengthen communication skills relevant to learners’ jobs.
  • Create a supportive, respectful classroom environment that fosters participation, confidence, and skill-building.
  • Track attendance, learner progress, and submit required reports/documentation on time.
  • Collaborate with ICRI staff to ensure program quality and alignment with employer and other ESL site needs.
