Job summary

ICLS, the International Center for Language Studies, seeks flexible substitute English-language instructors for its Intensive English Program in downtown Washington, DC. Qualifications

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Description The International Center for Language Studies (ICLS) has provided high-quality language training for more than 50 years to a wide range of clients. We are seeking flexible, reliable, and experienced English-language instructors to serve as substitute teachers for our Intensive English Program (IEP) at our Washington, DC language center. This is an in-person teaching position located in downtown Washington, DC near several metro lines, offering a professional, collaborative, and friendly work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Cover IEP classes Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on an as-needed basis, averaging 2–7 days per month.
  • Follow lesson direction and established course objectives provided by the regular IEP teacher.
  • Occasionally lead weekly field trips or facilitate conversation club activities.
Qualifications (Required)
  1. A degree in TESOL or a closely related field, or a bachelor’s degree plus a TESOL certificate (or equivalent).
  2. A minimum of one year of ESL/EFL teaching experience with adults (two years strongly preferred).
  3. Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Qualifications (Desired)
  • Experience teaching advanced grammar, business English, pronunciation, and/or academic/professional writing.
  • Overseas teaching experience.
  • Proficiency in a second language.
  • Experience with Communicative Language Teaching.

Hourly Pay Rate: $25
