Job summary

Virginia's Community College System is seeking Engineering Technology/Mechatronics Adjunct Faculty to teach college-level courses in engineering technology. This part-time role involves developing course content and engaging with students at the Virginia Western campus.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and at least two years of relevant occupational experience. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree and college-level teaching experience. Compensation is based on credit hours taught, ranging from $793 to $1278 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Completion of OSHA Outreach Training Program within the last five years for teaching OSHA courses.
  • College-level teaching experience (preferred).

Job description

Job Overview

Engineering Technology/Mechatronics Adjunct Faculty (Part‑Time) responsible for teaching college‑level courses in engineering technology and mechatronics. Faculty may deliver in‑person or hybrid instruction on the Virginia Western campus. Positions are filled on a course‑by‑course, semester basis with variable hours and days based on enrollment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver course content, including lectures, labs, and assignments.
  • Write syllabi, exams, assessments, and grading rubrics.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the discipline and trends in community college education.
  • Engage in departmental communication and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Assist with agency or state efforts during emergency declarations if required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Minimum two (2) years of related occupational experience.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments for diverse student populations.
  • For teaching OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification courses, completion of an OSHA Outreach Training Program within the last five years is required.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering (preferred).
  • College‑level teaching experience (preferred).
Compensation

Pay Band: $793 - $1278 per credit hour. Faculty rank determined upon credentialing.
