Job summary

Duke Energy in Indiana is seeking an Engineering Technologist III or Senior Engineering Technologist to provide high‑level technical guidance and leadership within the engineering support teams. The role focuses on solving complex problems, delivering analysis and reports, and mentoring junior staff.

You will work across groups, plan and monitor activities, and contribute to continuous improvements while maintaining professional relationships and clear documentation. Travel 5-15% may be required.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology or 6+ years of experience without a degree.
• Requires 4+ years of relevant industry experience with a Bachelor or 6+ years with an Associate.
• Alternative: 8+ years of equivalent experience without a degree.

Responsibilities

• Provides subject matter technical expertise and guidance in problem identification, analysis and resolution.
• Collaborates across multiple work groups to achieve goals.
• Plans, organizes, estimates, schedules and monitors work activities to meet business goals.

This position may be filled as an Engineering Technologist III or one level higher as a Senior Engineering Technologist dependent upon the experience level of the selected candidate.

This is the third/fourth level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role job classification and considered the career level for the job hierarchy. Technologist III and Senior Engineering Technologist both provide technical expertise to solve more complex problems, and leadership skills to manage work in a specific area of expertise, with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently with increased latitude for unreviewed work.

Job Responsibilities

Basic/Required Qualifications - Engineering Technologist III

Either 2+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 4+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 6+ years equivalent experience without a degree

Basic/Required Qualifications - Senior Engineering Technologist

Either 4+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 6+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 8+ years equivalent experience without a degree

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical (ACADE) to create schematics and templates for standards and capital project support.
• Experience in the utility industry.

• Experience with Maximo and/or TIM to develop and support items and Compatible Units (CUs).
• Ability to address change requests by the production teams.
