"Depending upon the qualifications of the successful applicant, the hiring manager may elect to fill this position at a higher level within the job hierarchy.” The successful candidate for this position will develop complex engineering designs to connect new customers to the grid in the Durham / Chapel Hill area. This includes new residences, commercial buildings, industrial facilities, and EV charging infrastructure. This position will require visiting customer jobsites locally as well as office design work. The successful candidate will possess good verbal and written communication skills and good organization skills.
The Engineering Technologist III position is the third level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role. An Engineering Technologist III provides technical expertise to solve more complex problems and leadership skills to provide oversight and direction of work in a specific area of expertise, with some supervision. Employees in the Engineering Technologist III position are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with a high degree of independence.
The Senior Engineering Technologist position is the fourth level of the non-Engineering degreed technical support role. The Senior Engineering Technologist provides technical expertise to solve more complex problems, and leadership skills to manage work in a specific area of expertise, with minimal supervision. Employees in the Senior Engineering Technologist position are expected to develop advanced skills and work independently with increased latitude for un-reviewed work.

Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.
