Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory seeks Engineering Technologist candidates to join ASD projects in Los Alamos, NM. The role covers assembly, testing, and documentation of IVA Cells, SACs, and LEA components, with opportunities to lead at the Technologist 2 level.

Technologist 1 focuses on basic assembly tasks, drawings, and test equipment use, while Technologist 2 may mentor others, perform leak detection, NCRs, and critical lifts under supervision.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of drawings and GD&T.
• Basic knowledge of SolidWorks and Creo to design and fabricate components.
• Experience assembling and disassembling parts from drawings and procedures.
• Knowledge of common lab test equipment: digital multi-meters, profilometers, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.
• Familiar with vacuum systems (KF flanges, CF flanges, roughing pumps, and turbomolecular pumps) and leak detection.
• Swagelok, plumbing NPT for PVC pipe fitting, and ANSI and metric threads.

Responsibilities

• Fabrication, assembly, and testing of Accelerator components.
• Work closely with the lead production engineer on assembly tasks.
• Coordinate with other production teams and safety personnel.
• Ensure components are inspected and staged, ready for use.
• Maintain quality assurance and meet project requirements.
• Look for opportunities to improve the assembly process.
• Work with technical teams to optimize cross-subsystem efficiency.
• Provide maintenance support for personnel and equipment.
• Collaborate with technicians and engineers across teams.
• Complete all training in a reasonable time.
