Job summary

Insight Global seeks an Engineer Technologist to map utility pole designs using survey data and geographic locations. You will convert field surveys into a digital distribution map, capturing wires, boxes and other attachments for accurate design.

You will work with GIS and engineering design tools on power and utilities projects, requiring a related degree and a valid driver's license. This role is based on-site and involves data-driven mapping tasks.

Qualifications

• 1-5 years of experience in design, drafting, GIS or telecom-related fields.
• Associates or Bachelor's degree in a similar field.
• Bachelor's degree in Architecture is acceptable if not ABET accredited.
• Valid driver's license.
• Experience with Maximo, Engineering Work Management Systems, and design manager software.
• Experience with pole distribution software and GIS.
• Background in power, energy, or utilities.

Responsibilities

• Map utility pole designs from survey packets and geographic locations.
• Document assets (wires, boxes, etc.) attached to each pole during mapping.
• Create a digital distribution design map from collected data and surveys.

Job Description

The Engineer Technologist will be assigned to a project that requires utility pole design mapping. They will be given survey packets of the poles they are mapping. These surveys were collected by the people out in the field. With the survey packets they will know the geographic location of the poles and the different assets (wires, boxes, etc.) attached to each pole. They will use all this information to digitally create the design "distribution" map.

Skills and Requirements

• 1-5 years of experience within design, drafting, GIS, similar experience within telecom, fiber, networking, engineering, construction, utilities, etc.


• An Associates or Bachelor's Degree within a similar field


• Bachelor's degree in Architecture will suffice, non ABET accredited colleges, or Associate level degree


• Valid drivers license


• Maximo, Engineering Work Management Systems (WMS,GDT, etc), design manager softwares


• Ex-Lineman, pole foreman software, pole distribution softwares, GIS


• Previous experience within power, energy, utilities
