Job Description
General Responsibilities:
- Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g., soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel).
- Communicate with project team members regarding site conditions, project requirements, and testing results.
- Transport samples to the laboratory with proper documentation for testing and analysis.
- Prepare and submit data and observations in reports, both written and digital, for daily review by the Project Manager.
- Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
- Assist with scheduling and dispatch of technicians to project sites.
- Adhere to strict safety standards at all times.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform testing, observation, and inspection according to training and procedures.
- Inspect projects requiring expertise across multiple construction inspection areas.
- Read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
- Test materials to verify compliance with contract specifications.
- Document findings clearly and accurately.
- Analyze data for accuracy before submission.
- Communicate findings to the Project Manager and team.
- Possess proficiency in multiple testing and inspection areas.
- Train lower-level technicians.
- Supervise activities of other technicians when needed.
- Plan, schedule, and dispatch technicians based on skills and project needs.
- Coordinate pre-dispatch activities with management.
- Interact with clients and site personnel as directed.
- Assist in developing scopes of testing and inspection services.
- Maintain equipment calibration and operation.
- Perform advanced fieldwork and support project management.
- Follow safety protocols and report issues promptly.
- Ensure quality standards are maintained across projects.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience or equivalent training.
- Proficiency with laptops, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- ACI certification in at least one area: Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I, Concrete Strength Testing Technician, or Radiation Safety/Nuclear Density Gauge operation.
- At least two additional certifications from the following: AWS CWI, ASNT Level II, RRO, or other relevant certifications.
- Successful completion of internal safety certifications.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable record.
Preferred Certifications:
- NICET Level III or IV in Construction Materials Testing or Geotechnical fields.
- ICC certifications in reinforced concrete, fireproofing, masonry, prestressed concrete, or steel.
- AWS Senior Certified Welding Inspector (SCWI).
- ASNT Level III in NDT areas such as VT, MT, PT, RT, or UT.
