Job summary

The State of Louisiana seeks an Engineering Technician 1-4 to assist engineers with traffic studies, data collection, and field measurements in District 08. The role supports MUTCD-compliant plans, reviews, and safety analyses, reporting to the assistant traffic engineer.

Responsibilities include data entry, plan reviews, meetings, and representing the Traffic Operations Section in discussions; ideal candidates will have basic engineering exposure and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance.
• Assist professional engineer in traffic operations and studies.
• Collect traffic data and enter into databases or applications.
• Review construction plans for traffic items and safety; plan-in-hand meetings and inspections.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with a broad range of traffic operations.
• Collect data for traffic engineering studies and enter into databases.
• Conduct plan reviews, project inspections, and traffic signal inspections; respond to public requests.
