Job summary

Veeco is seeking an Engineering Technician in Plainview, NY to join a team supporting development and operation of etch and deposition equipment in the Applications Lab. Responsibilities include setting up, maintaining, diagnosing, and assisting with equipment and process development.

The role requires at least 2 years of hands-on experience with electrical/mechanical systems, a high school diploma (associates preferred), and proficiency in MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in assembling, disassembling, and repairing complex systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn new technologies and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot process equipment, including vacuum coating systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve system performance issues using electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic tools.
  • Support engineering activities including assembly, testing, and qualification of electromechanical and vacuum systems.
  • Provide technical support to engineering and process development teams for research and product improvement.
  • Document maintenance activities, test results, and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and preventive maintenance activities.

Veeco's process equipment solutions enable the manufacture of LEDs, displays, power electronics, compound semiconductors, hard disk drives, semiconductors, MEMS and wireless chips. We are the leader in MOCVD, MBE, Ion Beam, Wet Etch single wafer processing and other advanced thin film process technologies. We are currently looking for an Engineering Technician to work in a team environment to assist engineers to maintain and support development of Veeco’s etch and deposition equipment located in our Plainview Applications Lab as well as provide support to daily operations of the lab.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot process equipment, including vacuum coating systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve system performance issues using electrical, mechanical, optical, and diagnostic test equipment.
  • Support engineering activities including the assembly, testing, and qualification of electromechanical and vacuum systems.
  • Provide technical support to engineering and process development teams for research, development, and product improvement.
  • Document maintenance activities, test results, and troubleshooting efforts as required.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and preventive maintenance activities.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining complex electrical and mechanical systems.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics, Mechanical Technology, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, technical training, and relevant experience will be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience assembling, disassembling, and repairing complex systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness and ability to learn new technologies and processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Effective organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience in a high-technology manufacturing, R&D, or engineering environment is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with vacuum systems, semiconductor processing equipment, or wafer processing equipment is a plus.
Salary And Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $63,552.00 - $83,621.00 plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
