Job summary

Howmet Aerospace is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for the Whitehall Casting Plant 10 weekend crew. The role provides technical support to maintain continuous flow of parts, materials and information, liaising between engineering and manufacturing to expedite product flow.

Responsibilities include solving issues, identifying improvements, supporting tooling and NPIs, and collecting data to support process control. Strong problem-solving and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical technology or related field.
  • Minimum of one year experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • US work authorization; visa sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

  • Expedite product flow between engineering and manufacturing.
  • Address process issues to improve velocity and drive root-cause resolution.
  • Identify potential problems to reduce constraints and costs.
  • Support tooling, NPIs and process improvements with engineering.
  • Assist with data collection and analysis for process control.
  • Coordinate information flow and provide status updates to plant teams.

Responsibilities

This weekend-crew position will be located in our Whitehall Casting, Plant 10 Operations.

Summary: The manufacturing engineering technician role provides technical support to ensure continuous flow of parts, materials and information by addressing issues that arise to drive velocity through the plant.

  • Acts as a liaison between engineering, manufacturing, other functions to expedite product flow
  • Continually address issues with problem-solving techniques that impact velocity and solve issues identified to root cause
  • Proactively identify and address potential problems or constraints in the production process for improvements or cost reduction
  • Interact with engineering to drive tooling, NPI and process improvements
  • Supports engineering and manufacturing with data collection, compiling information and analysis to support process control
  • Coordinate information flow, e.g., reviews shift reports and connects with supervisors to determine areas for focus, communicates material requests, etc. – provides updates on issues and resolution to appropriate functions within the plant
  • Keeps workstations stocked with material replenishment
  • Support operations as a contact in out-of-cycle tasks related to raw materials, parts, removal of waste, moving kanban cards, updates to electronic productivity and other status boards, missing instructions, quality issues, etc.
  • Coordinates with engineering to understand risk of deviations and variations in processes
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an Associate degree in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical technology or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of one year experience working in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of work experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Reading blueprints / specifications.
  • Understanding of production processes and manufacturing related metrics.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team collaborating with others.
