Job summary

Howmet Aerospace is seeking a Mechanical Technician for the Weekend Crew at Plant 3 in Whitehall, MI. The role will start with a weekday training schedule before transitioning to three 12-hour weekend shifts, based at Whitehall Casting.

Responsibilities include assisting facility engineers with capital projects, installing or moving equipment, procuring parts, updating schematics, and providing maintenance support to the team. A strong mechanical background and proactive attitude are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Five (5) years of hands-on mechanical/maintenance experience.
• Associates degree or completion of a registered apprenticeship program preferred.
• Experience in maintenance, construction, HVAC, equipment installation, fabrication and welding, hydraulics and pneumatics, or plumbing and piping systems.
• Good mechanical aptitude and blueprint reading capabilities.
• Able to work in a self-directed or team environment; strong organizational skills and initiative.

Responsibilities

The weekend Mechanical Technician position will be located at Howmet Whitehall Casting. Primary responsibilities will include:

Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associates degree in a technical discipline or completion of a registered apprenticeship program
• Experience in maintenance, construction, HVAC, equipment installation, fabrication and welding, hydraulics and pneumatics, or plumbing and piping systems
• Good mechanical aptitude and blueprint reading capabilities
• Must be energetic and a self-starter, able to promote and implement change, have good PC skills, good telephone skills, strong organizational skills, and ability to promote a continuous improvement atmosphere
• Able to work in a self-directed or team environment and have good organizations skills
• Ability to work independently and with initiative
