Job summary

Ducommun Incorporated in Carson, CA is hiring an Engineering Technician (Mechanical) to support multiple engineering teams with hands-on assembly, fixture builds, CNC programming, prototypes, and production validation. The role requires strong practical skills, detail orientation, and ability to follow technical instructions under engineering guidance.

Responsibilities include building fixtures, programming CNC mills/lathes, collecting basic data, and training operators while meeting prototype

Qualifications

• Proficient in reading mechanical drawings and assembly instructions.
• Proficient in programming using Mastercam, SolidWorks, CAM Works, or equivalent.
• Experience in programming CNC mills and lathes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Relevant technical certificate or degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build, assemble, and modify mechanical fixtures, jigs, tooling, test setups, and prototypes.
• Machining and fabrication using CNC and machine shop equipment.
• Collect simple build/measurement data using basic inspection tools.
• Create and optimize CNC programs; train operators.
• Follow prototype build timelines and communicate changes or risks to the NPI team.
• Protect and manage CUI and ITAR/EAR/CMMC compliance.
• Support visitors and security policies as needed.
• Handle hazardous waste properly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain regular attendance.

Engineering Technician

Engineering Technician (Mechanical) supports all Engineering teams byperforming hands-on mechanical assembly, fixture builds, CNC programming,prototype builds and production process validation. This position requiresstrong practical skills, attention to detail and the ability to followtechnical instructions under Engineering guidance. When Engineering workload islow, the technician may support Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) repairactivities or production.

Job Summary

• Build, assemble, and modify mechanical fixtures, jigs, tooling, test setups, and Engineering prototypes.
• Perform machining and fabrication tasks using CNC and machine shop equipment.
• Collect simple build or measurement data forEngineering use using basic inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, andgauges.
• Create new CNC programs and optimize current programs.
• Train CNC production operators to set up and run new and existing programs.
• Follow established prototype build timelines andcommunicate changes, delays, or risks to the NPI team.
• Responsible for protecting and maintaining all Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) appropriately to prevent unauthorized access, dissemination, or use of this information, documentation, or products; including authorized and proper use of such information in regard to marking, storing, transmitting, and destruction of data.
• Support all visitors and security policies to protect ITAR/EAR/CMMC/CUI information, documents, products, etc. from unauthorized access by informing management immediately of any concerns.
• Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in employee’s work area.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Regular and acceptable attendance is an essentialfunction of this job.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Proficient in use of machine shop equipment (drillpress, saws, hand tools, CNC Mills, CNC lathes, grinders, etc.).
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and assemblyinstructions.
• Proficient in programming using Mastercam, SolidWorks,CAM Works, or equivalent.
• Experience in programming CNC mills and lathes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Required Experience and Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Relevant technical certificate or degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in electromechanical assembly,testing, and/or soldering.

Base Compensation: USD 33.00 - 38.00Paid Hourly
