Job summary

Ducommun, Inc. in Carson, CA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer III to optimize methods for motors and resolvers. You will lead lean initiatives, design processes, and mentor teams to reduce waste and improve throughput.

The role requires 5–7 years in production, strong CAD/CAM skills (SolidWorks, Mastercam), and solid engineering drawing interpretation. This is a salaried, full-time position based in Carson, CA.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
  • 5–7 years' experience in a production environment, preferably electromechanical, aerospace, and industrial applications.
  • Strong knowledge of lean and six sigma methodologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients and customers.
  • Proficient CAD/CAM tools and related software.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Ability to work independently with good judgment and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create and lead continuous improvement projects using lean and six sigma tools.
  • Lead cross functional teams to support RCCA activities on CARs and DMRs.
  • Lead the development of manufacturing processes, procedures, and tooling for new products.
  • Lead the implementation of new manufacturing equipment.
  • Design manufacturing processes, work instructions and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, and material handling.
  • Train production personnel on tools, processes, and procedures.
  • Support production operations and personnel on technical issues.
  • Estimate labor hours for new and existing products.
  • Create and update routing information (cycle times, notes, etc.).
  • Communicate with customers, vendors, and suppliers on projects on technical issues as required.
  • Design, test, and validate tooling and fixtures.
  • Create data collection plans for parts and processes to understand process behavior.

Manufacturing Engineer III

The successful candidate will determine the optimal manufacturing methods and process for producing company motors and resolvers efficiently. Understanding of lean improvement methodology, ergonomics, time studies for reducing waste and excess, line balancing, 6S, Kaizens, etc.

Our Facility in Carson, CA is our Engineered Products Group location, which houses our Human Machine Interface, Motion Control Device, Radiofrequency Departments.

Job Summary

  • Communicate with customers, vendors, and suppliers on projects on technical issues as required.
  • Design, test, and validate tooling and fixtures.
  • Create data collection plans to parts and processes when necessary to understand process behavior.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Working understanding of 6-Sigma and Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Experience leading cross functional teams on projects.
  • Professional knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes together with work measurement and work standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients and customers.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • CAD/CAM software experience (Solidworks, Mastercam, etc.).
  • Working knowledge at an intermediate level of computer skills in e-mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Ability to work independently, with a higher level of judgement making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Required Experience and Education
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or
    Related Engineering Field.
  • 5-7 years experience in a production environment, preferably with electromechanical, aerospace, and industrial applications.

Base Compensation: USD 110,000.00 - 130,000.00 Paid Salaried
