Job description

Job Summary:

The Engineering Technician is responsible for assisting the Design and Manufacturing Engineers in the implementation of design and engineering activities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Hands-on prototyping and testing of designed parts and accessories
• Welding and metal fabrication of prototypes
• Troubleshoot fitment issues and make recommendations for adjustments.
• Operate 3D printing and laser cutting machines
• Operate and run parts in the house machine shop
• Create and update SOP’s for documentation of assembly and repair procedures
• 3D modeling of basic components
• Adhere to and carry out existing work practices, procedures and policies
• Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate
• Understand and comply with safety and environmental policies
• Other duties as assigned

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Design new products and redesign existing parts for vehicles
• Assist with SolidWorks drawings and bill of materials
• Fine tune all new and existing parts for production
• Create solid modeling/prototypes of design projects
• Undertake relevant training and development as required
• Carry out work orders within a realistic timeline ensuring that deadlines are met
• Exercise discretion and individual judgement with respect to Company matters

INTERACTION WITH:

• Various levels of internal staff within a variety of departments.
• Some customer interaction

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 2 years’ hands on manufacturing experience

EDUCATION:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• College education or Trade school preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Welding and metal fabrication experience
• Knowledge of 3D printing and laser cutting machines a plus
• Operating of Manual and CNC machining equipment a plus
• SolidWorks and CAD software skills and experience
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

• Vision a minimum 20/40 with or without corrective lenses
